Behind the Scenes of Endpoint

I originally planned for Endpoint to be the final book in the Backworlds series. The war was ready to end, but the story wasn’t. Sure, I could have wrapped things up, but I realized I’d be robbing my characters of the ending they deserved. After everything Craze and his crew had been through, they needed more than a rushed finale. They needed resolution. And maybe even a shot at happiness.
So instead of trying to stuff all that story in one book, I let Endpoint be what it needed to be: a book focused solely on how the war ends. That gave me room to explore strategy, sacrifice, and survival. I never wanted the conflict to end in the typical, expected way. I’m not that kind of writer. There always has to be a twist; something that takes the story down a different path. That’s as much for me as it is for the reader. Because if I get bored or see what’s coming too far ahead, I stop and shake things up.
I believe the best stories are the ones that surprise you. The ones that don’t take the easy route. With Endpoint, I pushed myself to find those turns, those angles that catch you off guard but still feel right. This book is the lead-up to the end and it’s packed with sacrifice, discovery, and more revelations.
