Behind the Scenes of Precipice

Things get really messy for Craze in Precipice. He has dealt with a lot of loss. His home is in shambles, and war is on the horizon. The Backworlds has one chance at survival, which is an alliance with their most hated enemy.

This was the hardest book in the series for me to write. While I was in the middle of writing it, my youngest brother passed away suddenly. It devastated me. I was consumed with grief, and yeah, that grief made its way into the story. One fan reached out after reading Precipice and said they found it dark. I wasn’t surprised. I was in a dark place. My emotions were raw and spilled onto the pages.

That said, this isn’t a happy-go-lucky point in the series for Craze, either. He’s facing more loss, just like I was. There’s no shiny polish when you’re standing on the brink of war. But there’s something real in that struggle. Sometimes the worst moments shape who we become.

So in this one, Craze is fighting to keep what matters. To find a way forward when he has to sacrifice more of himself and what he loves. It’s gritty. It’s emotional. And it’s honest, because it came from a place where I had no choice but to write what I felt.
